News from the boy - from Jon former PA of this Parish

Hello everyone

How r u all???

We have left the nightmare and are now in paradise. And we dont say that lightly.

Delhi was very hard, and we were thankful that we had tickets to Leh. The flight was fantastic, and the view over the himalayas as we came into Leh was perhaps the mopst amazing spectical we have ever seen. It was truly breathtaking. The problem was we weren't allowed to photograph it, even from the plane, because all this area is very militarised.

Leh is a beautiful city set in a valley within the himalayas. Its a very peaceful and tranquil place inhabited by decendants from Tibetan Budhists, mixed with pockets of other religions; making it a very spiritual and harmonious place. I\There are lots of tourists here, but you dont really notice it as the place is so peaceful. Although Leh is very green, the view of the mountains and glaciers is spectacular from whereveer you find yourself.

Since we came we have done nothing but chill out. The reason is due to the altitude sickness which affects people in different ways. We sometimes suffer from strong headaches and shortnerss of breath, but we just sit and chill till we start to feel better. The good thing is were really starting to feel much better from today.

Were planning to stay here for about 3 weeks, but during this time we intend of going on a few treks. This saturday were planning on going on a jeep trek to Nubra Valley - which means we pass the highest road in the world at a staggering 5606m above sea level.

Were sorry we can't write more often because the internet connection is pretty slow. and its quite expensive. But please keep writing to us because its nice to receive yr emails and know whats going on.

Lots of love

Jon & Hilit xx
