things to catchup

Tuesday cont

After tea and breakfast I wake up. Ring the bereavment office and it seems they are going to have to get the coroner involved as Emily died suddenly and I guess post shipman nobody just dies anymore. Fair doos I guess and no choice. Nice lady rings from the coroners office.
They are cool no PM needed and I need to turn up aat the RLUBH at 3 and then the registrars at 4pm. I have to ring the funeral director and tell them the coroner is cool arrange to meet them at home tonight at 7pm. Sort out a few things on the phone and pencil in arrangements for the funeral all dependent on the priest and crem slots it seems.
Nip to see mum, shes up and down. Then its back home to meet the funeral director, Dan a completely top bloke, lots of questions. Plenty of answers. Sorted out, Jean dropped Ally off at a meeting then came back. Taxi Billy dropped in to pick up the tickets for the mel gibson movie we should have been goin to see. All sorted he's away by 8 I ring mum sister aunts and all sorts of people. Done.

Tuesday

Sleep in absolutely goosed just after 11 when I surface. Feel rough but get there after tea.

RIP Emily Banks 22.04.1912- 29.03.04

Well Nanny had been up and down - blog followers will know she has been in the Royal for some weeks. It was pronounced she was coming home today. Mum had visited yesterday, Emily complaied of chest pain but didn't want to alarm for fear of discharge being delayed. Mum called me at 5.45 Jean answered. I donned clothes and swigged a pint of milk and a brunch bar. Drove like the wind to me mums. Then on to the Royal, the resus team were in evidence, a very nice junior doctor, explained they had done their best shocked her tubed her bagged her got her back once but that she was very near the end now. The nurse led us round and she checked she had gone. Mum was very upset. I went prayed and held her hand. We went back in the room the nurse was very upset and a another patient gave me mum a big hug. It was very moving. Betty and John arrived. we went back in to see Nan. Then it was up to Nans house. We sorted some essentials out, like the cash she had salted away. Then it was off to see Pat and Billy mums other sister then ring George and Ronnie the brothers from there. I think it was here that about 8.30 I woke up. A bit of a mad morning really, John took Betty home and I took me mama back to hers. Seemed weird and lifeless as everyone else locked in commuting to work and school. We get to Mams and she goes into cooking mode starting with the full english I negotiate her down to a grilled bacon sandwich.
[Listening to: Get Busy - Sean_Paul - Dutty_Rock-CD (03:32)]

I succumb it tastes great but in my enthusiasm dont chew enuff and honk like mad. A bit of bacon blocks my stoma (is that the right word).
Things settle and the phone don't stop ringing. Speak to sis but brother remains uncontactable. Niece Ann coming up from London but I decide not to tell me mam.
[Listening to: Picture This - Blondie - Blonde and Beyond (02:55)]

Morning TV drones on and mum is kept busy with phone and other arrangements. I scoot to Tesco for a bite of lunch and cream cakes and other essential bereavement food.
Sis appears about 2 with Ann which makes nannas day. Meanwhile I have got in touch with Dave and he arrives. I dissapear home after several phonecalls to the very helpful bereavement office. Which may have in the past been called a mortuary.
I take Ally and Jean to me mums and they stay while I take mum off to Bettys for a family meeting. Its funny walking up bettys street. I used to play there as a child it seemed a happier brighter place then. The biggest problem then was dog muck. The world in 1965 was of course monochrome and now the technicolour streets boarded terraces evidence of prostitution and drug abuse add nowt. walking up the street I am struckhow Betty has lived all her married life in view of Nannies home. Last time I walked up this street I was probably two feet shorter. The meeting was interesting? It was strange family dynamics done large. I had a good chat with Graham all seemed mostly settled if well stretched a little thin. Bleasdale would be well pleased this rich comedy vein. I better not mention it to my scriptwriter friend(s).
Went back to Mams had a good natter. Jean and Ally went home and I followed dropped off by Mary and Ann.
Hit the night meds then off to bed a restless night but a good kip.

This is clever and as a blog feature apart from the fact it pobably is reliant on MR G its coolio. Works with Windows media player 9. Sunday I wake up first and then chill messing with stuff whilst the girls kip. Breakfast then I trot off to Somerfield good stuff. No Salmon and prawns so bad stuff change lunch plan and then its back home with two types of lamb. Good lunch with veg and baked potatoes. Then off to pick nanna off from the royal. Nannie is coming home tomorrow. Time team was good Romano-british my fave good tea, then off to all saints. Service was a bit long and uncomfortable the highlight being Jeans testimony. Back to work tomorrow - or am I well I better go anyway.

further testing

Well we have to try new things dont we?

A new blogging tool test

w.bloggar test
Well its Saturday - we all have a bit of a lie in. Ally is off to the cinema and Jean and I trot off to sefton park which is about 2.3 miles around. Very pleasant and Jean and I enjoy the brisk walk. Then its off for lunch at Greenbank I get weighed and I am down about 12.5lbs down to 17st 0.5 lbs that'll do me. We enjoy a nice late lunch then its off to Tesco Allerton Road for the weeks shopping. Meanwhile Ally has returned home and is calling by mobile as we are nearly ready to leave. Home, chill and the top ten soaps -del boy wins dont seem right to me. Black adder would have got my vote if I engaged in such activity.

Thursday

So get back to liverpool lunch and back home. Chill a bit then off to Moss house to see prof. What a dude cool as you would expect from a member of the team engaged in my care. He truly is an empowering doc and enables me to feel involved and responsible without leaving it all to me. Anyway full review - stop the prozac - leave the hypnotics as they are and monitor serum valproate sensodium levels. He insists on using a mispronunciation of the tradename deprrrrrrrrakote like they call morrrrrrrrrdorrrrrrr in LOTR. It really irritates jean but I think it is a lot classier than depakote- the correct name. I only see three people I know embarrasment factor minimal.
Off home and its a quick tea before we hit the suppport group. Good turnout about 35 Mr K turned up late full list and did a good presentation. Three videos which were pretty cool. And raiised a wow factor amongst most people watching.
Home and then sleep.
Friday AM Jean kips I mooch.
Afternoon I take several bags of accumulated crap to the cats welfare shop on Picton road. The are truly chuffed with our rubbish. If it brings them a few bob good enough.
Home thenoff to get mum from the Royal stopping for a blood test on the way the woman is cool enuff to know that I am not neccesarily epileptic and that valproate is for mood disorders.
Get mum nannie has a chest infection thenoff to hers, drop off home, grandmas friday night.

Off to the lakes

Well I was restless then eventually overslept. Showered, breakfasted, and got dressed flew to the sefton suite. It was freezing though the drive was delightfully quiet. Arrived at the car park mr k was predictably late. He dived into the sefton suite whilst I strapped in for the journey. Arrived in bowness one hour 45 later. Good audience 30GP's and a good sjhow from MrK. Videos work well and I learn more, I surprise them by convincing them I am a PCT technogeek which of course I am. They genuinely gaspedat the picture of post op me and Jane H from data quality. My bit goes down well I guess and a bit of postive feedback in the coffee break. Journey home and then my first time in a convertible car wioth the roof down. Impressive and surprisingly dry in the rain. Listened to loud music thought the audio was a bit trashy initially due to cassette only. CD multichanger in the boot, I chill and listen. Good stuff.

Last week - blur

Mother and grandmother in royal. Life a whirl of taxi-ing visiting and sitting in hospitals. Mother is out now and back to what's normal for her emily remains in situn resiliently objecting to moving her out. Which everyone is troo frightened to mention.
The blog has suffered big time. To enale a catch up I propose leaving it as that unless I get a month of free time from nowhere. Anyway I find mysellf sat in the carpark of the sefton suite. Waiting for david -surgeon not brother. Going to the lakes to speak at a gig. Not sure where or who to but will no doubt learn as the day unfolds.

Wednesday am

Starts at partnership for learning on the jaguar factory site. Well to me it will always be the ford factory. Ita posh gaff for sure don't seem to be many south liverpool residents in there. We are up into the theatre for the CHI preliminary feedback visit. Was a bit anxious and it was a big gig. All goes generally well then off back to the matchworks via boots for a butty. Get back to the works and temp David tells me not to pick my mum up from the royal as she is being kept in. Darn I had forgotten. She was down for a gastroscopy and they decided it to keep her in. I get in touch with dave my brother, then the gastro unit. Details are sketchy at first, not much hard evidence and they are keeping her in, ?bleeding, ?clots, ?ulcers. Who knows.

Wednesday CHI preliminary feeback

Gotta say I am not looking forward to this. Too much like mental health act commission visits of old.

Tuesday night

And its off to cell got in from work late and there just isn't enuff hours in the day. I announce my intention to canncel the weekend away for the encounter. The lads appear supportive then it degenerates into ribald humiliation at my expense, in a loving way of course.

Tuesday morn

Wrenched from bed, sleep had been fitful woke at 4.10 feeling odd read and returned to sleep. Jean had dutifully placed tea and juice at the side of my slumbers. Then I remembered I was fasting and developed a mouth like I had a huge hangover. Dragged my self from the pit grunted at the girls and thought time to wake. Things seemed a bit more real as I hit SAJMH or garston as it ia better known. The phlebotomy girls hadn't started the waiting room was a seething mass of humanity and the display stuck on 30. I took my ticket and queued, my ticket was 10 to the power of 6 with a capital letter E in front, I can't remember much from my open university math's but that a bloody big number.
I adopt my usual policy of waving and smiling at anyone on the way in. Some respond others do not. Annie the walk in centre manager doesn't recognise me though an hour later I wish she had.
As number 49 comes up and 52 draws near making toilet becomes my only thought. What's the procedure if you miss yer turn???
Eventually getting tested for everything and not recognised I head back to the works

Winwick old boys

Wednesday night finds me once again on the road to winwick. Mickeys wife Jane has changed her shift freeing him up for a wil night witn me and red adair. Not much wild about the night but we enojoy the natter as always. Quiz hosted by Tony is up to its usual standard. It starts with a minutes silence for manchester united but in warrington they think my extraction means I am a dyed in the wool liverpool supporter. If only they realised my bluenose leanings. Off home and do to bed.

Sunday - Jean and I walk

A long way to Somerfield I wear the day sack and carry our bargains back. Jean is disturbed as to how much like me my I have become. Makes mr laff and some cheap ham and clotted cream. Off to see Frank in the morrow. Well 8.30 which is technically the middle of the night.

Not much else to say. Though I did bump into into Jackie J at Somerfield on the way back from the post office box.

Friday - here comes the weekend

Meet with Brian from Central goes well and then off to lunch with Sandra Davies from Liverpool, Health Promotion old mate from way back. At Greenbank I see a few faces from the old days of mental health too numerous too mention here. Back to the works plenty to do at the desk. Catch up with Janet and then drop Kim and her mates at the airport then home Jean is off out. We meet uplater at Beas. Where much stick is giving over Paul and birthday faux pas.

Thursday - Pauls Birthday

But we forgot oops to err is human. Easily done workin at desk in the morning. A quick nip to starbucks for a butty and then off to PROPEL a sort of learning event gig. Where's Kierans gang I thought they turned out for this. Anyway its public and patient involvement. Chaired by Gail Campbell ccol dude starts off with a guy from the north west office of this group. It was good session after the break came stuff from gail and a woman from the expert patient programme who was inspirational. I popped into see my mother but am called back to the works to sort a delivery with Jon. Planned a restful evening at home but peace disturbed by a call from nanna. Nanny banks aint well, carers want her to go to hospital she refused so they called betty who calls me mam who calls me. I decant my tea into my Starbucks mug and scoot to Nannas. Go to Emilys assess the situation. Somehow miss Brian Rix appearing with his trousers down. Despite protest I take executive action and call an ambulance. Paramedic man arrives in estate car followed by technicians, all is well till they offer her the chance to call a doctor instead. Oh dear. Eventually dispatched to RLBUH and I scoot home.

Wednesday still acting like a senior manager.

Awake at 7.45ish which is good for me, I get up and get on to writng my report. Its basically a stocktake of where the team is up to and how I can make recomendationd for the way forward. It takes a fair degree of concentration and I am pleased with the result. I wander up to meet sam in simply coffee to run things past her. One or two issues round her team and I am away. Off to the works via boots for a shapers meal deal. Whip back to the works for my 12.30 with val discussing my report, she puts me back a bit so I lunch with gail and others. Pop into see the IWL assessors one of whom recognises me from sefton general many years ago. I level with her about my return to work experience and say I was feared they would be feared I was a mangement plant. Good meet with them. Applause cakes and flowers suggests we have passed. Well done. Top meeting with Val we get loads bottomed. Off home and via tesco fajitas for me cool stuff. Tired tonight but we is cool. Laptop in dock for broadband connection to NHS net install cool.

Tuesday - Head in Gear - and more of the same.

A relatively early start at the Heads of Informatics Meetings. This is just for those of us in PCT's, when the acute people it gets too full. They are always like groundhog day same old issues. I feel quite on the ball this morning. Occasional hints that I may understand some of the things we are debating, and even more unusually have a valid input. Top stuff and it gives me a bit of a good feeling - confidence returns. Then a meeting to discuss Graphnet with Val - interesting one. Catch Sarah and then back to bump into Caroline and we sit in the park for a bit. Back to the works here more invoice problems unfold. After an hour on the phone they are sorted. Grrr. Kim aint happy someone has delivers a palette of folders for her conference gig in April to the works. The management aint chuffed either. Andy, Marischka and I are enlisted to fill two cars and transfer offending cartons to Kims Garage. Job done and energy expended I head home for canneloni. Option choices have arrived at home so I suspect heated debate in the coming days. I will be forced to insist Ally does what I would have wanted to do. Then her and Jean will discuss and tell me what she is choosing. Off out to Cell Dana a new bloke, a few absences but I sense growing relationships and a sense of recharging my batteries. Good stuff all round.Get home to watch diet Junkies which contains a bit about WLS - hmmmmm.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

Monday a bit of bloggy

blog so the day starts with department meet team brief and improving working lives team. Kim has mutilated her middle finger on her left hand much to the amusement of all. Some sympathy leaks through, but Andy and I pursue the search for the truth. Knifes and onions are implicated. As well as a visit to SAJMH. As a cheerup we go to starbucks for lunch. The paninini is too calorific and I must knock them on the head.
Back to the works then and more problems end up cross and going out to see a practice. Ray is a top bloke, and thinks have gone wrong and we work together with the nameless system supplier to straighten things out. Get there in the end talk it over with Val then end up drafting letters till 6.30 still job well done and its sorted. Home to chilli and tortillas (Chilli - the new Lasagne??). Chill for a bit and then online meeting at which we sort a lot. Top Stuff.
