Saturday christmas eve eve

Woke late. Took myself of to tesco for another round of christmas shopping. Was tired. Old Swan looked relatively bereft of cars. Inside was full of pedestrians. Went home. Didn't do much.

Gravitas last day of term

I get on the road at some unearthly hour. Pick Jayne up in Mossley Hill then off to Crosby for Jayne. Fart about the office most of the morning. See three post oppers who are doing really well. Reminds me how lucky I am to have a satisfying job. Off to Ruthin for our team meet. Followed by drinks and then a meal at the manorhaus. Excellent place. To start I had pigeon breasts on some beans. Others had goats cheese and onion tart, soup, pate, fishcake and a couple of others. Main was a breast of duck on parsley mash and red cabbage. Others had bambi turkey lamb monkfish nobody seemed to have veggie. My pud was a mix of welsh cheese I ate the blue one ( that's a first) and a mince pie. Conor was there though he snook off without saying tara. He admitted reading the blog too. He missed the potato game. Shame. Home via loggerheads at -5degrees. Very tired.

The family college

------------------

Sick of shopping already

My shopping limit was reached an hour ago. If I am honest I haven't done any just stood looking like a spare part and bag carrier. Stood outside lush trying to avoid the pong. Stood looking in a shop window day dreaming. The mannequin was a lady in a santa nightie. Well I thought it was a nightie. The shop seemed to be Ann Summers, so I side stepped and started day dreaming in the early learning centre window. Having panic attacks with the crowds. This is not for me at all.
------------------

Sat in costa coffee

Went back to cambridge last night. Found our old friend a loch fyne restaurant. Jean did lobster bisque and bream with king scallops. I did potted shrimps followed by pan fried salmon with shitake mushrooms and lemon ginger marmalade. Very nice. Hotel had some pluses and some negatives. After late breakfast hit. The park and ride now find myself in costa coffee in the grafton. Jean is off in search of shopping I chill.

Practical Breakthrough

Somehow I managed to change the bulb in my headlight. That for this cack handed imbecile is nothing short of miraculous. I managed it quicker than my neighbour Pete and I only got slightly dirty and hurt my fingers only a bit. Now at Costa Coffee norton canes services having made good progress.

Nobody told me. Did they notice?at least they were both black this time. When I realised this morning I wasn't best pleased. Meeting about gravitas website tomorrow. Also involved in some work with the Boss site. Met a woman from Birmingham who wants to start using the BOSS database too.
I want to blog more meaningfully but so much of my life covers confidential or sensitive stuff. I will think.

Phil

My good friend Phil passed away yesterday. He had been ill for ages and I hope he didn't suffer too much pain. He's been a part of most of our lives and he will be sorely missed. Jean was upset and I tried to explain to Ally what he meant to us. Thoughts go out to jenny and david and the rest of the family.
I can't help but smile when I think of him and the laughs we had. He saw me through dark times too and I will miss him.

Got to euston. Couldn't go to toilet. Didn't have 20p. Wandered off to find hotel got lost panicked. Walked too far the wrong way. Arrived late. Showered and met in the foyer.
Taxi to the commonwealth club. Drinks recption. And then in for dinner. Smoked salmom and cod dome with roquette and quail egg salad. Roast and braised guinea fowl crushed potatoes onion jam. White chocolate tear drop. Strawberry compote.
Very nice. Back to the bar for a fruit juice and now bed.

Monday, November 05, 2007

On way to london again.

A busy day off to work then across to Runcorn station to pick up the 3.15 from lime street. Seemed a better solution than the park and taxi scheme I had planned. Got into a sweaty panic though over a new experience. Train was relaxing and got a bit done bit feared of what happens at the other end as ever fear and uncertainty can paralyse me. Right now I need a wee but I am in watford junction station.

British Museum Roof

Monday, October 22, 2007

On our way home.

Had a great afternoon at british museum. Though some dude had moved the ribchester helmet to the royal academy of art. The chinese warriors were brulliant and I highly recommend them. The british museum itself is a fantastic building I would never bore of visiting. Afternoon we strolled along oxford street then back for a kip in the hotel. Out and eat at loch fyne restaurant in covent garden. I do a sushi smoked salmon followed by a half lobster. Very good. Home again weird film about kinsey and then kip. Strange dreams (strange bed). Breakfast taxi and then to euston.

Theatre

Went to the tricycle theatre on kilburn high road. Play was moonlight and magnolias. A comedy the producer of gone with the wind calls in a new writer and director locks them in a room and makes them rewrite the screenplay in 5 working days. Very very funny. We eat at the theatre and it was pants. I had meatballs and they were appalling. We had to walk a long way to the nearest tube and went from kilburn park back to paddington.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

London again.

Down in the smoke. Busy week. Agm, nof, work and now a minibreak. Journey down was pants. A train cancelled and the poor sods piled in with us. Got in 10 minutes late. Tube to hotel ok despite panic attacks. Tired. Walked round tube to portrait gallery. Then down to parliament square to see nelson mandela.

WLSinfo AGM

East midlands airport thistle hotel. Get on down for the Agm. Went down after work on friday. Lots of seeing old friends and meeting new faces. though its a stress ful day its worth it. For some of the members its the first time that they have met other people who have had surgery. The tales of peoples lives their struggles and their journeys are humbling. To meet people who have been through the wildest roller coaster imaginable and emerge is exhiliarating. Some times I wonder why I am still involved in the charity. I spend a couple of hours at a meeting and I have no doubt. This is where I b elong and where I need to be.
I feel privelidged to have met these members and shared their journey. All goes well despite me forgetting the mains lead for my pc. Steve helps out. All goes to plan the business meeting is ok, I feel better when its done. I then facilitate a group for pre-ops which I really enjoy.

Chris Oliver Blogspot Happened across this surgeon who was banded in February. Good read.

Friday

Yesterday was a death by duvet day. My sleep wake cycle is out of kilter. Iwas up till three last night watching crimson tide one of my all time fave movies.
This morning I am at Broadgreen with my mum. Seeing her cardiologist or rather his registrar. Mum explaining in her roundabout way her history and the poor guy looking flummoxed. Now sat waiting in phlebotomy queue. An appointment for an echcardiogram is to be sent in the post My I had forgotten the waits in the NHS. Plan to scoot to the post office on the way back. Also need to buy a pen drive. I fear mine fell to bits and I have lost the required part to rebuild it.

White bull

On the way back from the museum via the bath house I take picd of the white bull. The owner accosts me and tells me of a fox worth photographing inside. I get talking to the owner his wife the barman and their child. I take pics and end up eating here. Turns out he was paul heatcotes head chef and she was general manager at his longgridge gaff. I stay for tea. Duck and chicken sausage and cassoulet of duck. Top stuff.

Carmen rose Ribchester

The carmen rose english tea rooms ribchester. Tea and tea cake. Now off to roman museum.

Day off

Much earned and appreciated. Got to be up in Preston for the opening of the west lancs group later. A friend told me about Ribchester and whalley abbey. But priorities. Need a haircut so here I am in cafe 23 armed with cafe and blackberry. Taking stock. I have a new photo project in mind. Of which more later. I feel black and white being involved too.

In to the conference centre hear Mr K talk about the sutureless port and some other presentations on bands. Light lunch ouside then into the AHP stream. Heard some good presentations topped off by a star session from Jane around the use of creon. A long tiring day. Pudding was an egg bread sugar cinnamon treat. Delicious meal.

Never thought I would make it

Its been long hard slow rollercoaster white knuckle journey but today I reached a year without a drop of the devils buttermilk. Or Alcohol if you prefer. Head feels clearer life is better and much is improved. A very positive mood.

Monday, August 13, 2007

Monday bit of a bad start

Woke up with the worst headache since detox. Took two paracetamol which eased me off into a deep sleep. 2 minutes later nurse from surgery rang me mam needing taking the medical assesment unit at the royal coz of her red legs.

Touchdown

Didn't sleep. Blind panic and nerves is a great stimulant. Got into Speke early and taxi home. Slept in late. Quiet day sunday. Bit of sun in the afternoon. Then slouching watching England getting beaten.

Saturday, August 11, 2007

Last night meal.

Hit the same fish restaurant we did the other night. Justy missed the last two tables outside. What a bummer. I did the almost unheard of ordering the same meal. It was less of a challenge as we were given the english menu. Meal was good. Trotted back and turned in early for the early start. Woke before 9 for the first time in a week. Jean packed, I yawned and looked useless. Saw the landlords got the deposit back minus 14 euros for the towels (as per contract). In car and of to Tarragona. It was good. Lunch at a taverna where I ordered a shrimp omelette which had morphed to a bacon one when I got it. A load of germans came in and with teutonic efficiency made ordering the tapas in this half self service greek taverna look like a piece of piss. As ever I managed to fluff the language and look like a streak of piss. After lunch we scooted to a world heritage site of the circus and forums. Really good stuff. €2.40 to get in top VFM too. Wandered back down la rambla via two cafes. Into the bus station car park then off to find reus. Stopped for some diesel. Poohed myself as only pump available was 12. My spanish numbers stop at 2. So I filled up - €18 and squeezed some more in. Up to 20 walked in smiled and put a €20 note down on the counter. The lady smiled out of pity and bid me farewell. Found Reus abandoned car returned key and sat now in departures. Flight doesn't open for checking in for another 1hr 20. I am bored shitless. Jean says I can't get my laptop out. There are tatooed english ne'er do wells at large. They have their childrens names tatooed in elvish script on the inside of the forearm, a string of barbed wire on the biceps, mild or bitter over each nipple, five o'clock shadow and you should see the men.
The security guards here have night sticks too. One chap I just saw had a badge saying vigilante I which I hope isn't what it sounds like.
Just seen a big long line of happy holidaymakers from salou spat out of a bus and into a queue. The flight was moscow bound. The soviets are enjoying new freedoms indeed. Next to them are the swiss returning to geneva with huge toblerones. At the end of the line are the toon army heading back to teeside. The best bit of this holiday has been a lack of contact with the british. This airport is full of us. I can feel my tan fading. I have never slept on a plane without alcohol or prescription sedatives but today may be a first.

I loved this caff in sants estacion Barcelona

Classic

Reading matter(s)

This holiday I read two crime novels and another part of clive james autobiography. As ever I ended up identifying with the author in a grandiose near deluded way. Granted I have never used a dunny, been to Oz, cambridge or fronted sever tv series. Still I felt echoes of resonance. The man is a fool like me. Channeling his energies into too few projects always prioritising those which pay the least. He has turned procrastination into an art form. He has also suffered from male pattern baldness mood swings increasing girth and an ability to perform bacchanalian acts of excess. The end of this book sees him sober. He seems to be funny without trying and I am trying without being funny.
Its friday night in calafell jean is present shopping and I am not present.
The local police have just pulled up. Policia local, like rome there seems to be a plethora of law enforcement agencies.

view from the boat

On the med

Egg lady

From the market

St Josephs fruit market

A market off La Rambla in Barcelona, apologies for rough edit but its quarter to midnight and I am sat by the pool.

Thursday. Sun is back.

Got the train and hit sants estacion line 3 to rambla and found a market. Selling fruit veg and specialist offal. Saw everything from tripe to tongue and balls to brains. Had a quick pizza lunch then had a delightful cruise on the sea. One and a half hours €10.40 good value. Landed had ice cream now I sit in cafe while she shops and seeks out bog.

Weather got better

After a spell by the pool we are off to Barcelona on a double decker train skirting the med.

Happy birthday have a lazy day.

Jeans birthday. I woke up and went in search of provisions and a birthday cake. Provisions relatively easy, birthday cake less so. They lady weighed it then went off to box it. Actually I think she fecked off for a lucky strike coz I couldn't see her for ages. Left me stood like a dilbert. I waited for an age. She had obviously had a paella too. Anyway she came back saw me and went oohh and swore in spanish. Came back with my little box and stripped me of cash. Home light lunch and chill. Weather overcast so reading and kipping order of the day. Went to calafell for tea. Had a drink then ended up in a loverly fish restaurant with a spanish menu. (Ie no translation). Jean had a calafell salad I had a most delicious prawn salad. For mains jean had a fish and prawn kebab I had a mixed fish sort of fritto misto thing. Delicious. And my first go of baby octopus. Absolutely great. Home via the ice cream shop I had a double raspberry and vanilla pecan concotion nice.

Calafell seafront

Our first view of the Med

American tourists in Barcelona

But I like the pose

summertime busker at parc guell

He was a cool dude

Random Bike outside the best camera shop in the world

I saw all sorts in there including a digital hasselblad.

Wild cats of Tarragona

Snapped these feral beasts under a tree.

Tuesday train to barcelona.

Went from calafell station €12 for the two of us. A nifty double decker french train. Took us into barcelona sants estacion. Bought two public transport day tickets €5 each then off to the bottom of las rambla. Looking for the Arpi camera shop. This dingbat had forgotten to pack his camera battery charger and compact flash reader. This top store (found on the web) had both and a helpful guy whose english was better than my spanish. I was happy. Had a little look around then it was off to a pretty square for a paella. Wandered up the rambla then on to the metro again for the train to lesseps and headed for some gaudi at parc guell. Took some busker shots there. Long walk back to lesseps punctuated by coffee and cake. Rain mostly held off. Down to placa catalunya looking for presents for ally then to the seaside bit at the bottom of the ramblas. B ack to estacion. Muttonhead got us on the wrong train but managed to get us off. 9 stops back then just caught a double decker stopper to calafell. Italian for tea. I had antipasto mixti and jean had some sort of roast veg pie. Mains were smoked salmon and prawn farfalle for me and ragu penne for jean very nice. Home storms in the night.

Monday in Tarragona.

The weather was a little mixed still fit for the beach but up and down. We set of in our wrongway round car. Being british we found the only queue of static trraffic on the iberian peninsula. Still look on the bright side I mastered first and second gear and am now safe up to 10mph. We lunched in a seaside cafe in a nice place called torredembarra. Tapas thing going on with squid as usual. Then on to tarragona. A small seaside town with over 30 roman ruins. This was bigger than barca in roman times. The cathedral was shut for refurb. We had a delish ice cream at a gelateria. Terriffic stuff. Back home cocktail at a seaside bar. Jean had some lemon and lime thing I had a safe sex on the beach (alcohol free). Tapas and then more tapas down the prom. Home and kip. Storm in the night.

Monday, August 06, 2007

Sunday pm

Took a walk up the promenade. Found a restaurant had the speciality fideua preceded by a delicious fruit salad. Espresso home then sit outside fireworks display in the distance then bed.

Burnt feet

Idled by pool. Burnt my feet and head somewhat red too. Breakfasted and lunched at the flat. Idle day. Wandered into calafell in the pm. Purchased a hat. Amused by the fact that calafell seems full of airdressers all it would appear from the blokes specialising in the mullet. Still trendy here. Had some anchoas and chocos (squid) at a bar. Very pleasant.

Easy flight remember looking down at the isle of wight and the solent. Moved across france and then a lovely view of the pyrenees. Landed at reus on time chugged along to baggage. Got hire car a 1.7 diesel opel astra. Drove round the car park then learned how to stall. It was horrendous. Whilst I have driven plenty on the continent this time was different. Gits have sat me on the wrong side and moved the gear stick handbrake and mirror. Oh lordy. I stall frequently. We get lost. Eventually find the gaff and meet the owners who live above I am into the pool like a good un. Mooch of to calafell in the afternoon and have a walk drink and some tapas. There seems to be no english people. Squid and potatoes. Very nice. Back past the house to the supermarket. Mooch around nosing at every thing. Back to the house and relax. It is hot. About 32 I think. Off into caloafell park at the station. Walk along puzzled by the number of italians. Eat at a cafe. Too much tapas squid sardines anchovies and spuds tres bien. Back home and sat outside. Its noisy some concert on the beach. Bed sleep. Very tired after getting up at 3am.

On our way

Strangely quick checking in and security etc. Had breakfast in the caff now much for gate. Boarding at 6.20. More nervous about the journey from airport to flat than speak to reus (pronounced RAYUS). I can see me struggling with the language. Ah well.

Where are the girls

Out on the razz I have been summoned to breakfast in the morning at 9.30then we go our separate ways. Not sure of my plans. Need a kip tonight.

Arrived newcastle

With hannah and ally. Found travelodge went for a walk with my camera down by the river. Waiting for the light to change. Stopped in a cafe bistro. I liked it coz I am on my own and its empty. Ordered shrimp cakes and marinated flank steak with mash. Ice cream and rhubarb compote looked promising too. There is an upstairs but downstairs is fine by me.

Cambridge done

Good meeting thirty or so obesity nurses. Some I knew, many only by reputation. Now sat at costa coffee. On way home alfway up m6 toll road. Traditional pit stop. See some sites. Man on mobile phone using urinal (no handsfree kit). Old lady with shiny rainbow coloured hair. As ever no decaff in costa so its green tea for me. Now sat next to three bullshitting reps. Enough to make me chuck. Swig me tea and I am off

Cambridge

Down for an rcn meeting of obesity nurses. Stayed in a non descript travelodge on the A14 now enjoying the delights of cambridge park and ride. Ally is on a school trip to london and jean left holding the fort. Feels like july this morning for the first time. Hope its not the last.

Saturday and Sunday

The weekend slows down at Walton Centre - so do I. Weather makes for relaxtion. So I do as I am told.
Relaxing time. Slept better feel better took sun popped into abbey sefton.

Saturday, June 09, 2007

Friday evening.

Had some tea. A butty if memory serves. Jean visits. Have a chat to Frank chappy in next bed whose birthday is tomorrow.
At just after nine I get moved to a different room. A single room - a bloody upgrade. Nice one. Get the best nights kip since I came in.

Friday, June 08, 2007

What have I become.

At 4.25 I find myslf lookng forward to deal or no deal. Then when it comes on I am pissed off I have missed some. What a strange game even stranger now the chappie has turned down a dream day playing footie with manchester united. Value to me about 6p. If I stay tuned after Noel and watched Paul O'grady then please refer me directly to the mental health unit for assisting in locating mislaid marbles.

Friday already.

Woke at 5. Then dozed till brekkie time. Doctor visited early and said I am a model patient. I may well be appearing in migraine times, with a staple in my painkillers. Fluids walks no pills that's me. Then its on the phone to sort out Allys missing mobile. Its been referred for further consideration. Need to ring tomorrow. Back for fish and chip lunch and decaff tea the staff have kindly got me. Having lost the box I bought last night. After lunch do some work in the sun. Call Lesley. Back up to the ward and read.

Thursday, June 07, 2007

Bad lad

Jean visited and we snook off together to the asda. I sccored some magazines "lounge pants" and a cake. Also picked up some cash. When I got back to the ward Terry was waiting there to see me. We went downstairs for a drink. After he went I tried unsuccessfully to get a new telly card. Bugger change machine wouldn't work.

90 squid a day

So the HAS helpline tell me. Sort of reward/compo for being sick. Also covers the expense in decaff tea petrol etc. Woke up this morning feeling decided more human. Less head ache - at one point I even smiled spontaneously. An obviously bad sign. The injection last night helped and I had a better kip than before. Pushing three litres of water isn't the easiest task I have undertaken. Worse still is the bladder effects. Peeing past myself.
Breakfast shower sit on arse go to coffee shop. I can do routines. Saw doctor she is pleased. Met a sister from my last stay here. She was very nice.
Colin popped after lunch. Which was beef carbonnade (stew) veg and boiled spuds with a bowl of peaches for pud.
Been walking today but now feeling a bit tired and headachey.

Day 3 I think

Last night wasn't great woke up bursting for a pee and overfilled a bottle. In fact peeing all night. Didn't get chlorpromazine till midnight was goosed. Slept on and off through the night. The night staff left me to sleep past the morning brew. Woke up with a shocking hangover which was apparently a rebound headache. Had breakfast. Showered then saw two doctors. Clarified position around pills and latest plan.
Lunched roast pork roast dinner. Managed to take some sun. Did a bit of surfing in out patients. Time passing quicker than I thought. I am slightly confused I seem to have lost a day. Fell asleep in chair. Had tea a butty. Jean visited after tea. Tired again its nine fifteen and I need kip.

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Good film on

The Last of the Mohicans in my top ten up there with the biggies. Which if I wasn't watching it I would compose.

Tuesday afternoon.

Jean dropped in for a surprise visit. We had a brew outside. Back to the ward head still aching. Manage to fall asleep after Jean went, though not clear how or why. Felt rough on waking. Had tea, leek and bacon pasta withy brocolli and mash. Jean visited later with report from Ally of a good french exam. Well done Ally you continue to make me proud.

Seen the Registrar

The SHO hannah tips up with dr wong the registrar. It all went a bit quick. So the plan - think, is this?
1. Increase chlorpromazine for 4 nights
2. Get some anti migraine stuff down me 3 they couple of drug options for post discharge.

Tuesday continued.

Sat in the courtyard then swooped back to the ward. The briefness of my report contrasts with the monotony of the stay. Minutes pass as hours. Had a cheese salad and then apricots for pud. Had two paracetamol now I have gone to sit outside again. Sun keeps going in and out.

Tuesday morning.

Here I am sat in the courtyard enjoying the sun. Breakfast was the essential standard issue toast and cornflakes. It was ok. Then it wasdozing in my chair dying for a wee until the nurse released me from my drip. Felt better when I could walk to the bog. Two pharmacy people asked me the same questions then I saw the doctor after my shower. Felt a lot better after that. BP is down and I feel more relaxed.

Monday night.

Evening meal was lasagne and swede followed by pineapple. Ally and Jean visited and we went for a sit in the reception. Came back and fitfully watched a programme about muslim undertakers which was interesting, followed by Gladiator. I remembered the nightstaff from when last I was in. The place was too noisy. Suction, oxygen and incessant human traffic. Yup I appreciate I am a miserable bastard but I am in with a headache, painkillers stopped and new ones out of stock. See, is it any bloody wonder I am pissed off. Had 25mg of chlorpromazine, which they use to settle you. Sleep was weird 1st night new place headache and all that.

Monday, June 04, 2007

Tired.

Had turkey pie and some veg for lunch. It was incredibly ok. Seen by a junior doctor and cannulated. She has taken a full history and explained the plan. Feel better for that. Went out for a cup of tea in the tea bar and sat outside. Bought a telly card and watched deal or no deal and listened to an interesting prog about scallop fishing and then pm.

Safely installed.

Nearly did a runner but I am here now. Shown to a side roonm then downgraded to a six bedded bay. Terrified and agitated at first but the staff nurse was nice and I felt reassured. Between two chesty old men opposite three lads who don't look so chipper. I am in for 8 days detox. Taking me off painkillers. Apparently there is some options of injections and drips. We shall see.

Bed is available get your ass in here now.

That's me told.

Aint no beds

Stand down boy stay asleep.

3.30 again

Woke up early then dozed fitfully till 1. Dozed on the settee ate and went to mothers. Made more preparartions for admission. Went to mothers, a meeting then home. Je suis goosed. Watching DVD of judge john deed.
Expected at Walton 10am have to check there is a bed first. Feel whacked out completely.

Off to Borders for reading matter

After a lazy morning in the garden, its off to visit nanna en route to Borders. I need reading matter for hospital. I settle on Alexei Sayles new novel - weeping women hotel, janet street-porters memoirs and a couple of pulp fiction crime shockers by someone called Tess Gerritsen. I have signed up to some t-mobile hotspot deal. Means inclusive access at Starbucks amongst others. The data card is good but seems a slow pricey option. Seems like I have 101 things to sort before I go in to hospital. I don't like this elective admission gig. Kinda got used to the blue lights emergency situation. Too much time to contemplate what sort of crap could go wrong. I have a really anxious head on. More scared of going off on a high or a low. Things are more in equilibrium than for a long time. I don't really need something as unsettling as this.
Sleep is a worry still. Bowels are not right. I put that down to codeine and dehydration.

Friday

Went to see lesley at murrayfield. I hopefully start in a couple of weeks time after my sojourne in Walton. Feeling stressed about that mostly trying to cope with lack of chemical induced sleep and boredom. Murrayfield looks funky. Any hospital with its own helicopter landing pad fire engine and police car is ok by me. A nice lady told us a bit about the hyperbarics.
Saturday now I am sitting in the sun there is a cooling wind but its darn hot. Would like to do some flower photos but its a bit windy. Never mind.

Absent blogger

I know I know, where's the blog been. I haven't had much time to breath. Website photography and all sorts a constant round. Still I feel ok and its going well. Rodents in the garden, need to take more exercise, rabbit going mental, mother being neglected, me developing unholy relationship with cheesecake. Just dived into sainsburys to get down and dirty with tea and a teacake. Seems to b e in some sort of mega clean up panic. Cleaning out the machines. Plan to gop oput for tea tonight I think. Closed blogs

One of the blogs I read has become password protected. I don't know the reasons why but I have my suspicions. My own jottings currently contain huge gaps. A couple of aspects of my life are competely unmentionable on the blog. I often envy Tom Reynolds - the ambulance blokey who seems to freely blog about patients. The sphere of my clinical practice is so small that patients (and others) might be able to identify themselves. Secrecy (apart from keeping a confidence) doesn't come easy. Other stuff is happening at work that will be revealed in time. The charity is busy in a lot of ways but moving forward. The pace of the upgrade is slow. Sat waiting to see frank (the doctor). Did I mention Frank the barber rang me last week. Strangely on the day I had been done by Adele. Can't write about why I am seeing Frank apart from I need to get some sleep meds sorted out prior to the walton admission.

On the Rcn congress

My day didn't start two well. A crash on the M62 at junction 9 (winwick) meant over an hour in a queue. Found the international centre in Harrogate ok. Big underground carpark. Had troub le deciding which bit to go in and ended up needing two passes. Exhibition looked very much like the day the circus went home. To be honest I find exhibiting easier than participating. I mooched around several times then took in a caff. The cyber caff. RCN was a bit prim for me I have to say. Harrogate is twee to. A bit too twee so I didn't chug around it. I did notice a Loch Fyne Restaurant there. I headed for the motorway bradford and scored fish and chips at billy murgatroyds (he was the pensioner end of the harry ramsden empire). I shit you not there was a group of pensioners on a day out. http://www.billymurgs.co.uk
Can't wait to check that one out. Must put me mum on to it. On the way home I have to pee too often. Still gives opportunity to blog.

Probably that awful nights kip in chester. The talk went well and chester was a lovelty venue as ever and I got to take lots of shots of flowers. Saw john wilding got stuck ina traffic jam on way home. Worked friday only two patients to see but made a lot of phone calls and caught up with people. Staurday dominated by tip trip and feeling tired. Need to do some admin and bottom some chunks of work on the website with Bob.

Trapped in a radio blackspot.

What do I do and I have no powercord for my laptop. And the telly is broke. Sob sob. My blackberry is low on juice and I miss the website. Can't sleep. Jeans had a long evening her mum aint well and is at the royal. My mind is racing. Trying to remember what I haven't put in the presentation and then working out how best to get access to a pc to finish it off in the morning. Try at the hotel first I think. Then college - maybe library or even the CENs offices. It looks pretty slack turning up on the day with a couple of hours kip and half a powerpoint. By the way I am also sunburnt. Big mad read bone dome. Just need some fried egg in my beard to complete the barking look tomorrow. Note to self frequently check flies.

Thursday - protected work

went to my day job at Abbey Sefton - was busy on the web site when I came home. Bought a cheap duck (sainsbrys taste the difference on the way home. New tripod bag has arrived - quite a spectacular box it arrived in.

Wednesday managing the way sideways

Attended this session at central library - with mr cheerful. After the session went to look at http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Images/tcm21-82071.pdf seeing the 1207 charter was good even if it was small.
Then nipped to the Walker and saw two exhibitions - http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/exhibitions/cathedral/index.asp about Lutyens cathedral design and http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker/exhibitions/doves/ about the hidden pair involved in Charles Rennie Macintoshs' life. Both were good and well worth a visit then strolled into town though found it very stressfull. Went to Lush it stinks in there. Hope via a butty sat in St Johns Gardens. Stopped at the carwash - which must have shocked it.

Wednesday, April 04, 2007

Blues.

The session opened with a memorable quote from Dave - Accringtons not Liverpool. He was talking to a boss. Session went ok then its home via the tesco carpark. Fish stew and then out to a meeting. Home try to watch a Rick Wakeman documentary but fall asleep.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

I never felt less like beatin the blues.

Computerised cognitive behavioural therapy indeed. 3pm at the Swan. Sat in Tescos drinking decaff. What a lazy git I am. Then again been plugging away at website and making calls all morning. Need to write a presentation for the chester gig by friday. That's nearly two weeks in advance.

Monday, April 02, 2007

Monday Jean and Ally off.

Work and school respectively that is. Shakespeare is mental but enjoying the sun. I queue in the post office too long. I am intolerant of the post office queue. Over to the shop for a discussion over newspapers get a guardian (had to pay) and the acknowledgement we weren't in debt and the promise of a delivery tomorrow. Its all computerised and it is crap. Still toying with the idea of an online guardian. Jane Browne tells me it started off ok but she has stopped reading it.
Off to see mum in the evening then on to Borders with Ally.

Sunday, April 01, 2007

Sunday night.

Out for lunch at Ruth and Pauls took some pics whilst walking down there. Had a play with my tripod need to do some more to get proficient in its use. Spent a fair bit of time on email and web issues.

Saturday East Midlands meet.

Off just after 9 and hit the road. Good clear journey till this mutton head takes the wrong turning, at stoke find myself heading north instead of south. Soon remedied by a u turn and chugging along singing. Got there fine using a combination of googlemap and bupa. Bupa leicester is a standard two storey affair. Off to the oadby owl for lunch driven by vineeta in some posh car. Back and a good meet. A range of folk old and new a lively meet with a good atmosphere. Home via A50 and several photographic stops in laybys. Stop at Keele sevices for a pee and witness a muslim couple at prayer at the side of the road. Would have made a great pic but even I realise its intrusive.

Please put your underpants back on Mr Kenneth.

Let me explain, today I went for a barium meal. Primarily to check my pouch size staple line and emptying. I spent the morning nervously trying to avoid forgetting I was 'nil by mouth'. I went into work and set up the pvr for the cctv. Then there was a staff meeting. There was free butties and drinks. That was tough. Then off down to see margaret the silent sentinel who guards the reception desk at x-ray. Wait 15 mins and a radiographer shouts clare kenneth. Being used to this I ask her does she mean 'Kenneth Clare' she looks at me in a puzzled way. Not as puzzled as Clare Kenneth will look if I ever meet her.
Anyway get in that cubicle strip off including your pants and leave your shoes and socks on gown that fastens up bqack. I emerge with bare arse on view. 'You have taken your underpants off she says accussingly' yus I say sheeplishly. I nip back into the room. Nice lady though she clearly thinks I am a mad perve. She makes up a trolley of potions. Doc has an intersting talk trying to read what's on the form and me trying to explain my re-plumbing. He gives me b uscopan IV and then some powder followed by lemon juice. Don't burp he says after giving me a CO2 factory to swallow. Then its horrid barium lie back take pictures. In pops Mr Kerrigan who conveniently had a pp in the dept. Looks fine says he. Good job coz it looked crap to me. Off home she says don't worry if your stools are chalky and white and watch for constipation.
Bit of work only two patients then off home. Out for tea to Tavern for texd mex type thing then off to Beas.

Washing machine repair man

A cheerful chap who replaced our rabbit eaten hose without question. We have detained a suspect, and were waiting to see the cost of repair before passing sentence. The siad suspect seems to show no remorse, or indeed any emotion except bewilderment.
Been for a aircut and the nice lady adele was off. Saw a right mizzog who spoke to her mate. Went in the oxfam shop and bought two books. Must take them some as donations. Now wandered to tesco for provisions for tea.

Peter Kinderman.

Been to see Peter today top man. Got a plan, go and see someone at aintree about my advanced directive and go and meet with my psychiatrist Ed Gunter when I am relatively well. Discussing if ever I need an inpatient stay - what would happen to me. Peter tells me he isn't insured to see patients at whelan building so any future meets will need to be at Rahbone - in the gender dysphoria clinic. Afterwards nip to the post office for the charity post. Then pop to town nip into lewis. Its closing down. It reminds me of a department store I went into in romania. Empty shelves and staff without hope. Then its off to the mission cafe for lunch. Seven months sober today.
